The 3rd Manchester Buddhist Conference will be held on 7 June 2008.

Everything is completely free thanks to generousity of many people. However, there will be a collection box for victims of the Chinese earthquake, and one for the Burmese cyclone victims.

Bus Directions: Chamber Road, Take 82 or 83 Bus from Manchester Picadilly to Oldham (First Bus Company) and get down 3 stops after M60 Motorway, one stop after Renault Car garage, or opposite the Blue building saying “Safestore, Self Storage”, Cross the main road (Oldham Road) and go down Chamber road for about 5 minutes, you will see the polish centre on your left.

The centre has an accessible ramp for those who require it. The main conference will be in the ground floor, but there will be one parallel meditation session on the first floor. Volunteers will be available at the registration desk on ground floor to help people needing to go upstairs.
Meditation and discussion venues: there can be 2 parallel meditation sessions/ discussions in the main hall on ground floor, and one session on the first floor
Toilets are available both on the ground floor and the first floor of the building.

Zen meditation: Manchester Zen Dojo, main hall on ground floor

Chan meditation: Fo Guang Shan temple, main hall on ground floor

12:30: Buddhist Hyms, chanting  from different Buddhist Groups  (main hall, ground floor)

Thai chanting: Wat Charoen Bhavana

Sri Lankan Chanting: Ketumati Buddhist Vihara

Jaya Mangala Ghatha (The stanzas of victory by the children and parents of Ketumati Dhamma School)
Mittanisamsa Sutta (The profits of friendship by the Kendal Buddhist Group).

Chinese sutra chanting: Fo Guang Shan temple

14:30: Seminar: Theme of  “Buddhism in the community” in main hall, ground floor

15:30: Discussion sessions in parallel

A discussion session on Humanistic Buddhism led by the Wai Lin (Irene) Chan, Fo Guang Shan temple. Main Hall, Ground Floor

Other topics will be contributed by the members who may volunteer to lead discussion sessions.  Other discussions sessions will be held in main hall, ground floor (divided into two) and meditation room on first floor.

16:00: A short forum of venerables/ordained members, lay people can ask the venerables any questions.  Main hall, Ground floor

16:30: Closing Speech and collecting of feedback forms

17:00: Vacate Polish Community Centre
