The Manchester Centre for Buddhist Meditation teaches a combined samatha/vipassana meditation practice based on the breath which develops calm and understanding.
The meditation is based on a traditional form of practice adapted for the West by Nai Boonman a highly experienced Thai practitioner and builds up over a number of stages. Currently the Manchester Centre has six different classes for beginners each week and a number of theory groups for experienced meditators.
There are also regular full moon meetings, pujas and days of practice. The Manchester Centre is part of the Samatha Trust which runs meditation classes around the country and has a national Centre in mid-Wales where residential courses are held.
